Mixing Old and New Supplies

Hello everyone! Nora here from A Creative Touch with a card that utilizes an older CAS-Friday stencil and one of the new stamp/die duos. I love pairing new collections with my older supplies to get more milage out of my hoarding!

I started off by using white embossing paste and the Modern Petals Stencil on a white piece of cardstock measuring 4" by 5 1/4."

When the embossing paste was dry, I masked off portions of the background and created rainbow stripes with Distress Ink. I then mounted the panel over a black, A2 card base.

I die cut clouds and rain drops using the new Raindrops Duo stamp/die set. I used some gray Distress Ink to shade in the clouds and adhered them to the card front. I also applied dye ink to blend the blue on the raindrops. I adhered the precipitation underneath the clouds.

I stamped the sentiment onto a separate card panel in black dye ink. I used markers in rainbow colors to color in the word "rainbow." I adhered the sentiment to the card front using foam adhesive.

To punch these elements up a bit, I covered the clouds with clear shimmer, the raindrops with glitter and the rainbow sentiment with Glossy Accents. My card was complete!!

Now you may wonder why I used the Modern Petals Stencil when instead of the new Scattered Showers Stencil. Sometimes when I plan out my cards, I have a deeper meaning in mind. With this card, I used Modern Petals because April showers bring May flowers. I am so excited for spring and this was a kind of subliminal message.

Monochromatic Elegance

Hi everyone!!
Nora here from A Creative Touch on the blog today with a simple, monochromatic card using the Modern Petals Stencil (my FAVORITE!!!) and a sentiment from the Foxy stamp set.

I started off this card by creating the background with the Modern Petals stencil and Nuvo Crackled Mousse in Russian White.

I taped a piece of cream cardstock down on my craft sheet and then taped the stencil over it. I used a spatula to spread the mousse over the stencil like I was frosting a cake.

I had never used this medium before but I watched a couple tutorials on how to use this medium. I carefully took the stencil off the top but left the cardstock taped to my craft mat to dry for
twenty-four hours.

In my research, I found that if you didn't dry it taped to something stiff, the panel could roll up when drying. This doesn't hurt the panel in anyway but I wanted to prevent that from happening as
much as possible.

I die cut the dried panel, added some cream twine and used foam adhesive to adhere it to a top folding, A2 card base.

I added a sentiment that I stamped and heat embossed in gold, using the Foxy stamp set. I thought the font style and the gold went well with the muted colors I used for this card. I used foam adhesive to give the sentiment some emphasis.

I completed my card by adhering some cream and gold sequins randomly around the sentiment.

This card was really simple to create but there is an elegance to it with the monochromatic colors that I chose to use.

Seriously - You're The Best

Lisa here!  Today I'm sharing a fun background and way to create some dimension with your stencils!

I started by ink blending some Milled Lavender and Dusty Concord Distress Oxides in an ombre like pattern... dark at the bottom and lighter at the top through the Modern Petals Stencil.

After the ink was applied, I lifted the stencil and shifted it over just a bit...

And applied some Inca Gold over the purple.

As you can see, my Inca Gold has grown hard and cracked.. but I don't mind.  I just add a little water before I use it and I keep that little sponge right in the jar so it's always there.

I love the shadowy look it gives to the background!

I stamped, colored and die cut the floral from Mon Ami and framed it with two circles.. one from vellum and one from gold cardstock.  Then I added one of the sentiments from the set to a strip and attached it to my card.

Should you see something you need to have, I have this for you:

That's me for today!  Thanks so much for stopping and I hope you enjoyed it!  Come back again soon for more CAS-ual Fridays inspiration!

Christmas Card with an Emboss Resist Technique

Happy Monday everyone!! Nora here with a Christmas card using an emboss/resist technique.

I chose to use two retiring products for this card so when they are sold out, they are gone!! So sad because I LOVE the Modern Petals stamp set. You can use it for almost any occasion!!

Stamps: Modern Petals

I began this card by stamping the petals in red ink. I then stamped over the red with Versamark and  heat embossed with clear embossing powder.

Next I blended a melon colored ink over the entire panel. The embossed petals remained a bright, shiny red because it "resisted" the ink.

To make the front panel a bit more interesting, I randomly sprayed mist in red and white.

While the mist dried, I die cut the sentiment from white glitter paper using the Noel Fri-dies.  I then adhered the sentiment to the front of the card.

My last step was to adhere clear sequins and jewels randomly over the card.

I hope this inspires you to try the emboss/resist technique. Don't forget to use my code NORASENTME to get 15% off your total order-including sale items.

Have a FABULOUS day!!
