An Autumn Thank You Shaker and Some Great Deals!

Hello!  Lisa here and today I've got a shaker for you!   Have you checked out the clearance section in the shop lately??  Lots of great stuff at half off and at the end of my post I have a discount code for you!

Here's how I made it:

I started with a white panel of cardstock.  I ink blended some Distress Oxides over the entire panel in Fossilized Amber and Spiced Marmalade.  Then I placed the Starlequin stencil over the top and blended on some Rusty Hinge.  Leaving the stencil in place, I added some clear texture paste through the stencil as well.

While the clear texture paste was wet, I added some Metallic Gold Sparkle Embossing Glitter from Wow and set it with my heat gun.  It takes a little longer to heat up the embossing powder when applying it with the texture paste, but so fun to watch it change.  This one has both an opaque gold and glitter in it.  I prefer sometimes to not entirely cover the surface so you can see some areas are not as solid as others leaving a more "distressed" look.

I used the Bubble Box die to cut a frame for my shaker.  I just nest one size inside the other and tape them in place and run them through my Die Cutting Machine.  This die set is perfect for creating shakers with a nice big window or use the smaller size if you just want a little window!  This one is half off in the clearance section but stock is low so grab it while you can!

I measured my window and cut a piece of clear acetate just a bit larger than the window and adhered it to the back of the frame.

I added foam thick foam tape to the back of the frame, scattered sequins onto my base where I knew the window would be positioned and then popped the window over the top of it... careful to not let any sequins get stuck under the foam.

I cut out the leaves and acorn using the Acorn Dies (also half off in the clearance section!).  I cut the leaves from some previously colored cardstock where I used a shaving cream technique.  The tone wasn't quite right so I blended some more of the Fossilized Amber ink over the top and it was perfect!  I added them over the top of the shaker element using some thin foam tape.

Finally I added the sentiment from the Everyday Dragonflies Stamp Set and a few of the same sequins from the inside of the shaker!

You're Pretty Terrific!!

Hi everybody!! Thanks so much for stopping by today to see my 'Girl Friday' card for the month of September. Its so hard to believe that we whizzing towards the end of this month already which is quite frightening as I feel Christmas is coming at me and I'm no where near prepared!! I won't get stressed though because this happens every year and it always works out in the end......

 

Its Springtime for us here in New Zealand but as a lot of you are on the other side of the world and heading into Autumn, I thought I would create an Autumn-themed card for you:

 

This took a while to put together and my Cuttlebug was working extra hard but I was watching Seinfeld at the same time, so the time went by pretty fast!!

 

I used the Acorn Fri-dies to create the wreath, along with the Ornament Tag Fri-dies and Terrific Flowers stamp set for the sentiment. I even heat embossed the sentiment with WOW! Metallic Gold Sparkle Embossing Powder for a bit of sparkle and to match the gold leaves in the wreath. To find out how I put this all together pop over to my blog HERE.

Thinking of You

Happy Tuesday everyone!! Nora here from A Creative Touch. 

Fall is in full swing here in New England and the trees are turning such pretty shades of oranges, reds and yellows. In honor of fall, I decided to create a fall card using the oak trees in my yard as inspiration. I pulled out the Calm and Loving stamp set that is retiring and the Acorn Fri-dies to make my card.

I started off by stamping the "branch" on my card in brown ink using the Calm and Loving tree. I made this into a branch by curving the end

Next I used brown dye ink, "Carved Pumpkin" and "Mustard Seed" Distress Ink to do a toothbrush technique. I dabbed ink on an acrylic block, sprayed it with water and then dragged my tooth brush threw the watered down ink. I used my finger over the toothbrush to get the splatter effect.

While the card front was drying, I blended Distress Inks in green, yellow and orange onto a scrap of white cardstock. I then used the oak leaf from the Acorn Fri-dies to die cut two leaves from the ink blended paper.

My next step was to use the vein die from the set to emboss some veins into the yellow leaves.

I trimmed two scrap pieces of paper, one in orange and one and brown, into strips. I then stamped the sentiment from the Calm and Loving stamp set onto the orange strip.

My pieces were complete and then I assembled my card.

The sentiment strip was adhered using foam adhesive and I added the jute bow to "tie" the leaves together.

My last step was to adhere some sequins randomly around the edges of everything.

An Autumn Hello With Distress Oxide Die Cuts

Lisa here and today I'm sharing a card I made using all Die Cuts... not a stamp to be seen!  And CAS-ual Fridays has some of the best in town!

I started with a neutral but beautiful background layering a base of Kraft with a Kraft layer of the Trellis Cover Die.  When it came time to cut the pieces of the Acorn Fri-Dies I thought I'd use some pretty design papers, but they were too distracting... cardstock was too flat... so I pulled out a 6X9 piece of white cardstock and a bunch of autumn colors in Distress Oxides and decided to make my own:

I started with some Antique Linen and Brushed Corduroy that I applied to the whole sheet.

Then I added some Fossilized Amber to the entire sheet except for one corner that I wanted to leave very light for the bottom part of my acorns and I wanted an area with some green for some of the leaves, so I added the bundled sage just to one corner.

I added Rusty Hinge and Vintage photo (for some leaves) to all of the areas except where the Sage and Antique Linen areas were.  And for my acorn tops and leaf veins I darkened up an area with the Ground Espresso.  So I had all of the colors I needed on one sheet and slowly started taping down the dies to the colors I wanted and ran them through my Gemini.

And I ended up with all of these!  And my favorites are the ones that overlapped the various color "blocks"

I cut a large Scallop Tag from some cool "graph paper" patterned design paper.  Added my leaves and acorns and splattered some gold, bronze and white glitter watercolors over the whole thing.  Then I added and a gold Hello using a die from the Sweet Friend Fri-Dies across them, using popup tape, cut very thin in the middle to support it.

I also cut a couple of the Casual Tree die cuts from some darker kraft and added those to my foliage clusters.

And I still have lots of die cuts left over for another project!  You'll be seeing that soon!
